31. Mildred Howard

"Volume I & II: The History of the United States
with a Few Missing Parts"

"Forever Green"

"You are Here We are Here"

Mildred Howard focuses on concepts about the world and the individual in society. I am not sure what book she uses for "Volume I & II: The History of the United States with a Few Missing Parts," but I take the bullets holes are acknowledgement of the often ignored genocides or murders incited by the US. The other two pieces are from an installation at a gallery; I feel Howard's work puts the viewer in an environment where they are asked to reflect (literally) on the idea of being "Here."
