29. Gail Wight

"Creep"

"Star Struck"

"Emotonil"

Gail Wight's work integrates the use of science and technology, while making social commentary on both. "Creep" is a type of living piece grown from some sort of bacteria (I'm not sure what it's called); she amplifies the growth by using different colors and backing to give it an almost alien dissection . "Starstruck" is a melancholic display of technology's role in society; the robot is watching "metropolis," a movie about a dystopia dominated by wealth, technology, and control. Similarly, she comments on the affect of medicine in society by displaying "Emotonil," which is a medicine that cures emotions.
