Aganetha Dyck works with pre-made objects, altering them to become mutations of their original form. Covering the objects in hive patterns adds a haunting quality, as if their origin has been dominated by bees. I also see these pieces as commentary on quality of the cultural mentality to follow the pack, or in this case, the hive. The last sculpture, a kitschy 19th century object, becomes disturbing the overgrowth of a hive.
