"Self Portrait as the World's Biggest Worm"
Working with a variety of materials, Fabre often draws attention to phantasmic imagery and presents the viewer with objects that appear pleasing to the eye, but the objects themselves relate to life & death. Like the "Skull" biting the bird, naturally beautiful, being destroyed by an artificial decorated head. "Self Portrait as the World's Biggest Worm" is goes between humorous and nightmarish. The gaze of his head as the worm is haunting, but what detracts the from scary quality is the presentation in a museum full of 19th century artwork.
